Stutes takes first loss with Lakewood
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Charleston RiverDogs handed Mike Stutes his first loss in a BlueClaws uniform, as Lakewood dropped their third straight, 9-5, on Sunday evening at FirstEnergy Park.
Stutes (4-1) only gave up three runs, all in the first inning, but that was enough for Charleston to hang on the rest of the way. The BlueClaws right-hander, an 11th round draft selection in 2008, allowed just four hits and walked three. He also struck out eight, the second most in any outing in his career.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Mike Stutes continued to dominate South Atlantic League competition, giving Lakewood seven dominant innings to help the BlueClaws to a 4-0 victory over Hagerstown on Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.
Stutes, an 11th round draft pick in 2008, did not allow a run in his seven frames on the mound. He gave up just three hits total, but did not allow a base hit after the fourth. Stutes (3-0) also struck out a career-high 12 batters, while walking just two.

Worley stars in 2-0 win over Hickory

BlueClaws staff combines for sixth shutout of the season
HICKORY, N.C. - Vance Worley posted the best start of his young professional career, helping the BlueClaws to a 2-0 win over the Hickory Crawdads.
Worley, who was the Phillies third round selection in the 2008 Draft out of Long Beach State, pitched a career-high seven scoreless innings. The 20-year old right-hander allowed just two hits and struck out five.
Worley, Chris Kissock and Jared Simon combined to not allow a Hickory hit after the third inning. Simon earned his 21st save of the season and 10th in his last 10 opportunities.

Lakewood held to five hits in blowout loss
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Joey Mahalic shut down the BlueClaws offense, limiting Lakewood to two hits in six innings, and helped the Lake County Captains to a commanding 9-2 win on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park. The BlueClaws were limited to a five hits by Mahalic, Kyle Landis and Vinnie Pestano. Meanwhile, Lake County bashed 14 hits, including eight doubles, against four different BlueClaws pitchers.

Chapman leads way with six scoreless innings
The Shorebirds eliminated the BlueClaws from the first half championship race on Thursday night. On Friday, Lakewood returned the favor. The BlueClaws downed Delmarva 4-0 at Perdue Stadium to officially eliminate the Shorebirds from contention for the first half title. Chance Chapman had his strongest performance of the season, pitching six scoreless innings. He struck out a career-high nine hitters while walking just two. Chapman (4-4) also allowed just two hits.
