BlueClaws staff combines for sixth shutout of the season
HICKORY, N.C. - Vance Worley posted the best start of his young professional career, helping the BlueClaws to a 2-0 win over the Hickory Crawdads.
Worley, who was the Phillies third round selection in the 2008 Draft out of Long Beach State, pitched a career-high seven scoreless innings. The 20-year old right-hander allowed just two hits and struck out five.
Worley, Chris Kissock and Jared Simon combined to not allow a Hickory hit after the third inning. Simon earned his 21st save of the season and 10th in his last 10 opportunities.
