BlueClaws win fifth straight

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Lakewood nearly squandered a late lead on Sunday afternoon, only to claim a 4-3 11- inning win over the Asheville Tourists, the Colorado Rockies Class A affiliate. The win was the fifth in a row for the BlueClaws, who are now 5-0 on their current road trip.

Matt Rizzotti homered in the third straight game, this time in the top of the 11th inning to give the BlueClaws the lead for good. It was the sixth home run of the season for Rizzotti and the third since rejoining the BlueClaws off the disabled list.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- For the third consecutive game the BlueClaws and the Asheville Tourists needed bonus baseball to decide an outcome. But unlike the first two games of the series, the Tourists claimed victory, notching a 6-5 12-inning win at McCormick Field on Tuesday night.

Asheville capitalized on three BlueClaws errors to the tune of three unearned runs against BlueClaws starter Vance Worley and still needed extra frames to fell Lakewood. Everth Cabrera scored the winning run in the bottom of the 12th on a walk-off single off the bat of Brian Rike.
